Kinds of Articulating Man Lifts
Man lifts are available in both electric-powered and engine-powered models. These machines are made up to complete a variety of applications depending on the industry and the function. There are some outdoor lifts that are able to rise up over 140 feet and have a sixty nine foot horizontal lift. There are several lifts that are specially designed for small spaces. These models can extend 21 feet and rise thirty six feet.
The electric powered man lift models are usually used on indoor concrete floors. They normally have slim designs in order to easily fit into narrow spaces. Engine-powered man lifts usually operate on propane, gas and diesel. They are mostly designed for outdoor applications.
Electric Man Lifts
Electric man lifts are used for indoor applications often since they come in smaller sizes which could easily fit through standard doorways and fit into tight spaces. These units could maneuver around barriers and blockages, while still reaching overhead work places and do not contribute to air pollution.
Several electric man lifts have a rotating platform that enables for more precise movements. The controls of the lift have been designed to apply accuracy and efficiency. The electric lifts are offered in numerous sizes. They can be utilized in small warehouses or in places with high ceilings. The electric drives use rechargeable batteries that could be recharged after the shift ends.
Engine-Powered Lifts
Articulating lifts that are engine-powered are engineered to work on all types of terrains. Several machines come fitted with legs which hoist the body of the lift off its wheels to help create a more stable foundation. There are different other units which are particularly made for uneven and rough terrain. The majority of the lifts can handle five hundred lbs. Some models could even take on six hundred lb. loads. In these heavy-duty circumstances, the machine could articulate over one hundred forty feet high or 69 feet out in any direction.
During the past decade, telehandlers, also referred to as rough terrain variable reach forklifts, have surpassed the reputation of powered mobile machinery. These equipment have become the gem of the construction industry and with excellent reason. These equipment are useful, versatile and very strong. Because several models and manufacturers has exploded during the past 5 years or so, there are now a number of these equipment readily offered on the market.
In technical terms, a telehandler is considered to be an ITA* Class 7 Powered Industrial Truck. This description means it is a rough terrain forklift, but just in name only. Any of the similarities between a vertical mast type of forklift and a telehandler literally ends on operation and on sight. There are several other significant differences between the two machinery discussed below.
Compared to a vertical mast, a telehandler has a completely different appearance as it is made with a horizontal boom. A telehandler with a jib attachment from a distance can resemble more of a crane than a forklift. The boom can telescope or retract and extend as long as 30 feet and beyond depending on the specific model. The boom can also elevate to an angle from horizontal to roughly 70 degrees. Telehandlers have been referred to as "zoom booms" because of their ability to telescope. This name has become rather famous with the operators.
"Transaction" is a different optional boom related function. Telehandlers that are outfitted with this option have a boom which is mounted on the chassis in such a way that when the operator activates it, the whole boom to travel forward and back, especially for distances up to eight feet or so. Amongst the key benefits of this function is that it allows the forks to be cleanly withdrawn from a cargo and the forks can be inserted under cleanly, regardless of the boom angle.
Zoom booms have changed the construction industry. They are able to perform numerous kinds of tasks that used to take much more time and man-power to do.
