Classifications of Aerial Lift Platforms & Scissor Lifts
A scissor lift consists of a series of crisscrossed steel arms which are connected to create an X pattern. When raised vertically, the X pattern of support holds the rectangular platform which is located on top of the lifting apparatus. There are support railings along the edges of the lifting mechanism in order to help secure the workers' tools and keep them safe.
The scissor lift has a low profile, best utilized for smooth surfaces such as hard dirt surfaces, concrete and pavement. These equipment use either a combustion engine or electric motor in order to move the lift and power the lifting mechanism. The operator must move the lift itself if he or she has to travel horizontally, since the lift mechanism only operates the lift in a vertical manner.
Rough Terrain Scissor Lift
The rough terrain scissor lift and the standard scissor lift utilize the same lifting technology. The key difference is that the rough terrain models feature a different base which is specifically designed for surfaces that are not even. These models also offer oversized all terrain tires and higher ground clearance. The rough terrain scissor lifts use 4-wheel drive in order to navigate through muddy and difficult terrain with no trouble.
Telescopic Boom Lift
Telescopic booms are designed to be raised both diagonally and vertically. This model has a small work platform which houses controls in order to control the boom. The controls work with a combustion engine in order to power the hydraulics which move the lift and power the boom. The telescopic boom lift is an independent lift model and has off-road capable tires.
Articulating Boom Lift
There are two telescopic booms on the articulating boom lift. These are attached with a moving elbow apparatus. This lifting equipment has a bucket or a small work platform that is equipped with hand controls to be able to control the boom. These are stand-alone lifts that are powered by a combustion engine. Articulating boom lifts are available with either off-road or hard surface tires. These lifts are designed to be able to reach on top of and over top of buildings.
Aerial Mast Lift
In order to raise a work platform vertically into the air, the aerial mast lift uses a telescopic mast. The lift is normally powered pneumatically or electrically and are self-propelled units. These machines offer an excellent solution for working in high racks in narrow warehouse aisles. It is very important to note that aerial mast lifts are limited to vertical movement and are not recommended for off-road use.
During nineteen sixty six, Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries. At that time, he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift that operated on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" that was used to lower and raise the hoist. This device greatly impressed clients and hence, the name was born.
Genie expanded operations and established itself into different new markets, because the demand for platforms and work lifts grew. Over time, when the demand for new machines to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself known in many new markets. For example, Genie went into making stick booms, telehandlers, light towers, man-lifts and articulated booms.
Genie decided to secure a partner who had the same values because of the economic recession in the beginning of the 2000s, when they partnered along with Terex. This company has a history acquiring equipment manufacturers all around the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
Because of the Genie name and its solid reputation in the workplace, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand as part of the Terex Aerial Work Platforms. This was only decided after the initial few years following the sale. Hence, all Genie machinery continue to be sold under the Genie brand.
Genie takes pride in listening to their customers. The company is devoted to continually improving efficiency and quality and is also committed to lessening waste. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing outstanding support. These are the very work practices that have made Genie a trusted brand over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality machinery.
The DC and Bi-Energy machinery offered by Genie provide quiet operation, emission-free even in the most delicate work settings. Where the machine should be driven significant distances, like for example within industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the benefits of a 48V DC machine along with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Compared to any of the different kinds of aerial platforms, telescopic booms provide greater horizontal reach overall. These equipment are great for limited access places in construction and other industrial settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to offer utmost productivity. These equipment deliver supreme traction and the drive speed\the drive speed and supreme traction you need in order to travel around the work site and job area.
